Course overview

This occupation is found in sectors like advanced manufacturing, engineering construction, and maritime. The main role is to carry out metal fabrication using materials like steel, aluminum, and titanium.

Work includes manufacturing or repairing bridges, oil rigs, ships, submarines, petrochemical installations, cranes, platforms, aircraft, automotive parts, machinery, and more. Fabricators work alone or in teams, in factories or on-site, handling materials from 0.5mm to over 20mm thick, and fabrications ranging from small components to massive structures.

Daily interactions include planners, supervisors, inspectors, designers, welders, pipefitters, fitters, machinists, riggers, steel erectors, store personnel, and painters. Fabricators are responsible for the quality and accuracy of their work, ensuring it meets specifications and standards, and for maintaining health, safety, and environmental protection.
