Labman employee is reaping the benefits of gaining a recognised qualification while staying in work.
Now a Production Manager at Labman Automation, Paul Wheatley began at Middlesbrough College studying for his Level 3 in Electrical Engineering in 2009 where he found his passion for LV electrical work.
Recognising Paul’s great work ethic, Labman knew it was time to invest in his development and help him progress on to higher roles within the company. Paul said:
“Labman recognise the work you put in rather than what qualifications you start off with but as I progressed in the organisation, there were higher level qualifications I needed in order to be given higher levels of responsibility.”
“I completed my apprenticeship in Electrical and Electronic Engineering 3 years ago and thought it was a great experience, my Assessor Chris Barnes supported me throughout my studies and was a genuinely nice guy. The apprenticeship allowed me to get out on site which is a key part of my role.”
Labman pride themselves on their creative environment where friendly, enthusiastic engineers produce world leading custom laboratory automation and products. The company is fast expanding with plans for an additional site at their Stokesley base, tripling in size over the last five years.
“I would highly recommend considering an apprenticeship, if you find a job you love and want to progress, find out how an apprenticeship can support you through this so you can stay with your employer and gain a higher level qualification.”
