Plumbing and Heating Occupations Apprenticeship – Level 2

• Understand and carryout site preparation
• Understand and apply domestic cold water systems, installation and maintenance
• Understand and apply domestic hot water systems, installation and maintenance
• Understand and apply domestic central heating systems
• Understand and apply domestic rainwater systems
• Understand and apply above ground draining system
• Install and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems
• Apply safe working practices in building services working environment
• English and maths up to Level 2 maths
• ICT
• Employment rights and responsibilities (ERR)
• Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)

4 days with your Employer and 1 day at College, per week.

Employment in a suitable role for the chosen apprenticeship is essential. Northern Skills will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible but we advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to actively seek employment for themselves.

Learners aged 16-18 should have achieved Grade 3 or above (or Level 1 Functional Skills) in English and maths.

Learners aged 19+ should have achieved Grade 3 or above (or Level 1 Functional Skills) in English and maths.

Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment. If proof cannot be produced or you do not meet these entry requirements, then applicants will be invited to complete an initial assessment prior to acceptance. An interview will take place.

The NVQ Diploma is assessed on practical assignments, unit end tests and an online exam.

At the end of the programme, Apprentices will have achieved the Construction Skills NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing Occupations and the Construction Skills Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to complete English and Maths that will help develop important skills – like communication, team working, presentation, and problem solving. On completion of the Plumbing and Heating Occupations Apprenticeship at Level 2, Apprentices can go on to complete the Plumbing and Heating Occupations Advanced Apprenticeship.

Apprentices are not liable for fees as these will be covered by your employer.
