Lucy Griggs is currently completing her Level 3 Dental Nursing Apprenticeship at No 1 Victoria Terrace Dental Clinic in Newcastle. We sat down with Lucy to find out more about her apprenticeship and her plans for the future.
She said: “I know a few people who have completed the Dental Nursing Apprenticeship, and it seemed like an interesting role, so I decided to go for it myself. I’ve already learned so much, from patient care and dental exams to disinfecting equipment and understanding health and safety regulations.
“The balance between work and study has been amazing. I spend four days a week at the Dental Clinic and one day at College. This gives me plenty of time to study during the week and I can get my assignments done before the weekend! My tutor has been really helpful and supportive, too.
“In the future, I’d really love to progress into dental therapy, which would include hygiene and fillings. This qualification has been an amazing way to get my foot in the door!”
