Middlesbrough College scores big for MFC Foundation with annual charity football tournament

Employers from across the Tees Valley recently joined forces at Middlesbrough College Group’s third annual Charity Football Tournament, scoring a whopping £8112.55 in support of Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC) Foundation.

The competition, held on Friday, April 26th, rallied behind the foundation’s impactful community initiatives.

This year’s tournament marked a significant milestone as it boasted the largest participation yet, with 31 teams from various local employers competing in five groups.

Notable participants included businesses like Northern Skills, Tees Components, Active Chartered Financial Planners and tournament winners Natara, showcasing a unified effort towards supporting a worthy cause.

Event organiser Peter Donnelly, associate director of business development at Middlesbrough College, said: “We are thrilled to see the overwhelming response from the community in our third year running this competition. It demonstrates the collective commitment of local businesses and organisations towards making a positive difference in our community.”

Markus Buxton, commercial sales coordinator at Middlesbrough College, added: “The MCG Charity Football Tournament has evolved into a significant event on the local calendar, bringing together diverse groups for a common purpose. We are grateful for the support received from all participating teams and sponsors.”

In addition to the surge in team participation, this year’s event also saw a notable increase in funds raised, surpassing last year’s total by £3438.55.
