“I wanted to go for an apprenticeship so I would learn key skills on the job and get paid! I work in a busy garden centre café kitchen so no two days are the same. I am involved in food production for everything so I have a real wide base of experience. My college days really help me learn best practice that can then be applied in the kitchens.

“The key skills I am learning on my apprenticeship is organisation, teamwork and problem solving, as well as my general commis chef duties. With an apprenticeship I am able to learn the soft skills that I wouldn’t pick up in a classroom.

“After my apprenticeship I am hoping to work full time and, one day, become head chef!”

Apprenticeship: Production Chef Level 2
