Matthew Mallett, Middlesbrough College

Matthew Mallett

“I completed my Level 3 in Networking and Security at Middlesbrough College and this felt like a natural next step, I wanted more hands on experience and knew an apprenticeship would be a great route for this.

My role varies which I love but I mainly deal with IT issues as they arise from students and staff within the college. I’ve also been given larger projects to work on which is fantastic as I am able to use my initiative and problem solving skills, my Line Manager has complete faith in me which motivates me to do better!

This apprenticeship has allowed me to work independently and pick up key skills I wouldn’t have in a classroom, employers want the experience! I’m hoping to be kept on full time after my apprenticeship as I really enjoy it here.

Apprenticeship Standard: Level 4 Networking Engineer Apprenticeship

Previous school: All Saints Academy Ingleby Barwick
