At the end of the course the delegate should be able to:

  • Explain the basic principles of bearings and their lubrication use
  • Name the different types of bearings and their applications
  • Explain the common bearing failure modes
  • Identify bearing parts and state their functions
  • Remove, strip and replace a variety of bearings using bearing pullers, hydraulic press, jacking bolts, back plates and induction heater on a simple piece of rotating equipment
  • Can correctly identify the appropriate lubrication oil from documentation
  • State the reason for lubrication
  • Know the methods of application
  • Select correct lubrication in regard in machinery performance
  • Apply lubrication as per manufacturers instructions
  • State the reason for filtration
  • Can completely remove, strip and replace bearings on a sample piece of rotating equipment
  • Understand and can explain the principles of operations of main bearing types used
