Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician

Duties may include:

• Start up manufacturing processes independently or in a team, following SOPs.
• Operate manufacturing processes independently or in a team, following SOPs.
• Shut down manufacturing processes independently or in a team, following SOPs.
• Work safely, understanding Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities.
• Follow quality procedures to meet workplace standards.
• Comply with internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Control and monitor processes and equipment, resolving issues.
• Complete relevant process documentation and calculations.
• Understand the business environment, ethical practices, and codes of conduct.
• Participate in continuous performance improvement.
• Apply theoretical knowledge of science and technology to the job role.

You must have achieved GCSE English language and maths at grade 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2. Individual employers may also set their own requirements.

This apprenticeship standard is recognised by the relevant professional bodies at Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) level. Technicians are required to participate in continuing professional development after completing this apprenticeship.

This standard meets the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech). Registration is subject to candidates successfully completing the appropriate learning, developing the apprentice competence, and undergone professional review.
