A traineeship, like an apprenticeship, offers learners the chance to study a combined curriculum of education and training and is designed for those aged 16-18 who have not achieved a Level 3 qualification or are aged 19-23 who have not yet achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

Combining key elements including work preparation training, English and mathematics (for those who need it), and a high quality work experience placement, a traineeship is the perfect stepping stone to get on track for an apprenticeship. Our traineeship programmes help you gain hands on experience of working in a business environment and teach key skills such communication, team working, presentation skills and problem solving.
A concept offered since Summer 2013, traineeships are generally set at 24 working hours per week (but can vary) and are unpaid, however can be completed in a range of subjects, allowing learners to progress onto an apprenticeship or employment.

To be eligible for a traineeship you must:
Be unemployed and have little or no work experience at time of application
Be between the age of 16-24 years old
Hold qualifications below the equivalent of two A levels or BTEC Level 3
