COURSE CONTENT

This qualification is appropriate for employees in the construction and the built environment sector working across a broad range of areas who may be involved in producing design solutions, surveys, drawings and preparing tenders.

Who is this qualification for?
Anyone wanting to work towards becoming an Architect, Quantity surveyor, Surveying technician or Technical support person.

Learners who achieve the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Built
Environment Design (QCF) and who gain greater occupational and management
responsibility can progress into construction management qualifications, including
the Pearson Edexcel Level 7 Built Environment Design and Consultancy Practice
 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Employment in a suitable role for the chosen apprenticeship is essential. Northern Skills Group will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible but we advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to actively seek employment for themselves.
  • Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE Grades A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment. If proof cannot be produced or you do not meet these entry requirements, then applicants will be invited to complete an initial assessment prior to acceptance.
  • An interview will take place. <p>If you do not have a grade A to C in English and / or Maths (grade 7-4 for new GCSE measures) you will be required to continue studying these subjects.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

  • This qualification is assessed through professional discussions, direct observation of performance in the workplace by a qualified assessor, testimony from an expert witness subject to the activity being assessed, work plans, evidence from prior achievements, witness testimonies and learner’s reflective account of performance.

Unit 1: Produce and Recommend Detailed Design Solutions in Built Environment Design
Unit 2: Maintain Professional Relationships and Practice in Built Environment Design
Unit 3: Investigate Factors Affecting Project Development in Built Environment Design
Unit 4: Prepare Drawings and Schedules in Built Environment Design
Unit 5: Collate Project Information and Prepare Specifications in Built Environment Design
Unit 6: Plan, Carry Out and Present Measured Surveys in Built Environment Design
Then one more unit for a choice of 8 optional units
